Great People, Great Stories: The Return!
Armagh Vocations Team to host three Special Evenings
Armagh Diocesan Vocations Commission are presenting three more evenings of “Great People, Great Stories, Come and Listen” during the Autumn.
The first evening takes place on Thursday 8th October in Kilsaran Legion of Mary Centre at 8pm. Speakers for the evening are Sr Julie McGoldrick and Fr Ryan McAleer.
Sr Julie, a native of Scotland, is a Sister of St Clare and she’s currently Principal of Sacred Heart Grammar School, Newry. She is an inspirational leader who promotes both in her staff and pupils a true sense of their own worth and respect for others.
Fr Ryan, a native of Co Tyrone was ordained to the priesthood in 2012 for the Archdiocese of Armagh. He has served as a Curate in the parish of Dungannon since his Ordination. He has recently been appointed Diocesan Advisor for Religious Education in Primary Schools.
Our second evening takes place in The Synod Hall, Armagh on Thursday 15th October at 8pm where Sr Rhoda Curran and Brother Philip Mulryne will share their stories.
Sr Rhoda, a native of Co. Louth, has been a Sister of Mercy for many years. She has been actively involved in Pastoral Ministry over the years and has worked as Director of Armagh Diocesan Pastoral Centre for some time. She is particularly renowned for her work with the Beginning Experience.
Br Philip is a Religious Brother with the Dominican Order and is currently studying for the Priesthood. Prior to joining the Dominicans, he was a professional footballer and he has spoken many times on his faith story and on his Christian Vocation.
Our third evening will take place in the Medical Missionaries’ Hall, Drogheda on Thursday 5th November at 8pm. Fr Michael Cusack and Sr Carmel Flynn will share their testimonies.
Fr Michael, a native of Carrickmacross, was ordained a priest in 1990. He has served in Brazil as well as giving parish Missions and retreats both here in Ireland and abroad. For the past number of years he has served as the Rector of St Joseph’s Monastery Dundalk.
Sr Carmel, a native of Tipperary is a Sister of the Sacred Heart and she’s a valued member of the Armagh Diocesan Vocations Commission. She has worked for many years in different parts of Africa. She has worked with refugees and she organises trips to Africa for students from Sacred Heart Schools. She’s actively involved in Vocations Promotion work with her Congregation.
